Workout Because You Love Your Body…Not Because You Hate It

Motivation is a positive thing…fuel it with love.

There is no doubt that love is a great motivator. Since time began people have accomplished great feats, and have been motivated to achieve greatness… all in the name of love.

  • Our love for God can see us through tough times
  • Our love for our families can inspire us to make great sacrifices
  • Our love for ourselves can motivate us to make positive changes that can change our lives forever

Few can argue that love is indeed powerful, but what about hate?

Anger and hate dig holes, love and kindness move mountains.  Choose your motivation wisely. – Unknown

They say that there is a fine line between love and hate, and unfortunately this means that hate can also motivate. Like it or not, there is a certain energy to hate, and yes, it can result in the achievement of certain goals.

Those mirror emotions may both get results, but there is one major difference.

Hate never wins…ever.

When we look in the mirror and we “hate” our thighs, our flabby arms, or the stretch marks on our stomach, we may be motivated to eat more salad and kill ourselves at the gym. Given enough time, we may even drop a few pounds. At first it may seem to be working, but it is guaranteed to eventually backfire because…

Hate never wins…ever.

Fires that are fueled by hate burn hot, burn fast, and then burn out. It is exhausting to hate your body. It drains your energy, your spirit, your motivation, and eventually your hope.

Rise above it, climb out of that hate filled hole, and start moving those mountains, because life is way too short to stay trapped.

Let the real reasons you “work out” be:

  • Because it makes you feel great
  • Because it helps you celebrate and honor the body that God gave you
  • Because it gives you more energy to pour into your family, your community, your church, and yourself
  • Because it shows the girls in your life that your real joy lies in what your body can do and not just in how it looks

Motivation is a positive thing…fuel it with love.
